Teams allows meeting organizers to configure recording and transcription settings before the meeting starts.
This ensures recordings and transcripts begin automatically when needed and gives you control over who can record and who can access meeting content.🗝️🗝️🗝️
Step 1: Open Your Meeting Options
- Open the meeting from your Teams or Outlook calendar.
- Select Meeting Options.

Step 2: Configure Recording and Transcription
- In the left navigation pane, select Recording & transcription.
- Turn on Record and transcribe automatically if you want Teams to begin recording and transcription as soon as the meeting starts.
- This helps ensure important meetings are captured even if you forget to manually start recording.
Step 3: Control Who Can Record
- In Recording & transcription, locate Who can record and transcribe.
- Select one of the following options:
- Organizers and co-organizers (recommended for sensitive meetings)
- Organizers, co-organizers, and presenters

Step 4: Control Access to Recordings and Transcripts
- Locate Who has access to the recording or transcript.
- Choose the access level that best matches your meeting’s needs.
- This helps ensure recordings and transcripts are only available to authorized participants.
Step 5: Apply Your Changes
Your meeting is now configured to automatically record (if enabled) and follows the permissions you selected.
